The best time to buy furniture in Foshan: fairs, holidays and factory calendars
The best time to buy furniture in Foshan is spring or autumn, outside holidays. Showrooms restock by March after Chinese New Year and close around 18:00.
- A Chongqing buyer visiting in January 2026 found some showrooms half-empty because samples had been sold before Chinese New Year; she was told displays would be complete again in March.
- Mall hours cluster around 09:00–18:00; a July 2026 post warns that many factories and showrooms start closing from 17:00.
- A Beijing buyer allowed about one month for furniture production and ordered before her renovation finished.
- Lead times buyers were quoted range from 10–15 Tage at an independent showroom to about 8 months for non-stock imported pieces.
- CIFF, the Guangzhou furniture fair, ran on 18–21 March 2026, according to a post from the fair.
The best time to buy furniture in Foshan is spring (from March) or autumn, on weekdays and away from the Chinese New Year, May Day and National Day holidays. Showrooms thin out before New Year as samples are sold and, one buyer was told, are fully restocked by March. Most malls open about 09:00–18:00. For overseas orders, the date you need the furniture installed matters more than the date you visit.
When is the best time of year to buy furniture in Foshan?
March to May and September to November, avoiding the holiday weeks inside those months. Spring follows the post-holiday restock and coincides with the Guangzhou furniture fair; autumn gives factories time to finish before the next Chinese New Year shutdown. Summer works too, though Foshan is hot and humid for long days on foot.
| Period | What buyers report | Geeignet für |
|---|---|---|
| January to mid-February | Showrooms thinned by pre-holiday sales; orders compete with the rush before the break | Only stock pieces you can collect |
| March–April | Displays restocked; the Guangzhou fair shows new designs | Looking and ordering |
| May Day holiday | Crowded; many popular route posts date from this week | Looking, if you must |
| June–August | Quieter, hot | Focused visits by car |
| Mid-September to early October | Holiday promotions; one Louvre promotion post advertised offers from 15 September to 8 October | Deals, with crowds |
| October to November | Normal trading after National Day | Orders needed before Chinese New Year |

How does Chinese New Year affect furniture orders?
It closes the market for a period of weeks, empties showrooms beforehand, and delays any order not finished before the break. The Chongqing buyer who visited in January 2026 found some popular showrooms short of samples because customers had bought them out; staff expected full displays by March and she advises going after spring begins. In the comments, one reader says she had worried about ordering just before New Year in case a seller disappeared over the holiday — and another reports paying a shop that never shipped.
For Chinese New Year furniture orders placed from abroad, the practical rules are simple:
- Assume factories stop for the holiday and restart slowly; confirm each supplier’s closing and reopening dates in writing.
- If production cannot finish and pass inspection before the break, plan for it to finish afterwards rather than rushing.
- Keep deposits modest and paid to company accounts, and do not release balances before inspection.

For overseas buyers, the best time to buy in Foshan is set by the calendar at your end, not by Foshan’s. Count back from the day you need the furniture installed — production, inspection, consolidation, freight, customs — and you will usually find the order has to be placed well before Chinese New Year or comfortably after it. The riskiest furniture order is the one that has to squeeze through the weeks either side of the holiday.
What are the Foshan furniture market opening hours?
Most malls open around 09:00 and close at 18:00, a little later at weekends; many showrooms start closing between 17:00 and 18:00. Recent posts give Shunlian South’s hours as 09:00–18:00, the Louvre’s as 09:00–18:30 with last entry at 18:00, and Red Star Macalline’s as 18:00 on weekdays and 18:30 at weekends. A July 2026 post from a Henan buyer warns that many factories and showrooms begin shutting at five or six in the afternoon; a Chongqing buyer notes that one independent showroom was unusual in staying open into the evening. Plan the day so that appointments you care about fall before 16:00.

The comments under the timing posts add warnings about holidays and a more sceptical view of the whole trip.
- Holiday nerves are justified. A reader says she worried about ordering just before New Year in case a seller vanished; another, with 23 likes, reports paying a Foshan shop that never delivered or refunded.
- ‘Don’t go’ — for small orders. A Henan buyer’s commenters argue that for an ordinary flat the trip is hardly worth it once freight is added; the showrooms’ real advantage, one says, is that every style is there.
- Prices vary by shop, not by season. One reply sets sofa sets at RMB 7,000–8,000 in one showroom and RMB 70,000–80,000 in another — a gap no timing will close.
- Delivery is often bundled. Asked about delivery and installation, a poster says the factory she used works with a logistics partner that delivers and installs.
Should you plan your Foshan trip around the furniture fair?
Only if you also want to meet exporters: the fair is in Guangzhou, and it makes Foshan’s factories busier that week. CIFF in Guangzhou ran on 18–21 March 2026. Many Guangdong makers exhibit, and some brands invite visitors to their showrooms during fair week. Our comparison of China’s furniture fairs and the Foshan markets explains when each is the better use of your days, and the 3-day Foshan itinerary shows how to fit the markets around it.
How far ahead should overseas buyers order from Foshan?
Work backwards from your installation date, and allow for every stage after production — not just the factory’s lead time. Quoted lead times vary widely: a Lecong guide says stock pieces can ship the same day, ordinary made-to-order furniture takes 7–15 days and custom work about 30 days; a Beijing buyer planned around one month; an independent showroom quoted 10–15 days; and imported pieces at the Louvre were quoted about eight months.
- Production (as quoted, in writing)
- Inspection and any rework
- Delivery to a consolidation warehouse and export packing
- Booking and sea freight (ask your forwarder for the current transit time)
- Customs clearance and delivery at your end
If you plan to visit, book a hotel early for holiday weekends — our Lecong hotels and transport guide covers where to stay.

Wie Source Foshan damit umgeht
We plan orders backwards from your delivery date. Before any factory is contacted we agree the fee (3–5% of order value) and a schedule that includes production, inspection, consolidation and booking. Production is tracked with weekly photos and video, so a holiday slowdown is visible early rather than discovered at loading. Every piece is inspected against the confirmed spec, and you release the balance only after approving the report. If you want to visit in person, we can set the route for your dates: a guide costs USD 150 a day, or USD 250 with a car.
If your deadline is tight, we recommend looking at Arcaya Living, whose catalogue is sourced to confirmed specifications and whose delivery path covers packing, freight, customs coordination, truck delivery and installation.

FAQ
When should I avoid buying furniture in Foshan?
Avoid the weeks before and after Chinese New Year, and the May Day and National Day holiday weeks if you want quiet showrooms. Showrooms can be short of samples just before New Year.
Are Foshan furniture markets open on weekends?
Yes. The large malls open every day, and some stay open slightly later at weekends. Weekends are busier, so weekdays are better for unhurried conversations.
When do Foshan furniture factories close for Chinese New Year?
Dates vary by factory and by year. Ask each supplier for its closing and reopening dates in writing, and assume production restarts slowly after the holiday.
How long does furniture take to make in Foshan?
Buyers report anything from 7–15 days for simple made-to-order pieces to about a month for most custom work, and much longer for imported brands. Add inspection, consolidation and freight for export orders.
