Foshan mall or factory showroom? What changes in price, spec and after-sales

Foshan furniture mall or factory showroom? Buyers put Shunlian North at least a third below the Louvre; factories let you change leather and fill.

Кратко

  • A May 2025 guide says Shunlian North prices are at least a third below the Louvre, and that several large showrooms nearby cover 3,000–60,000 m².
  • The same post openly lists showrooms that make replicas of Italian designer ranges — useful to know, and a risk if you import.
  • A two-day Lecong guide advises paying 50% deposit and 50% on delivery and checking colour difference and logistics before ordering.
  • A Beijing visitor found factory stores quoting about the same as her home-city mall, and warns that touts promising a factory ‘just next door’ lead visitors a long way.
  • Another buyer rates Longjiang factories by whether they would show her the production line — and one placed its version beside the original for comparison.

A Foshan furniture mall gathers many brands and resellers under one landlord; a factory showroom sits next to, or belongs to, the workshop that builds the furniture. Malls are quicker for comparing styles and have a management office to complain to; factory showrooms usually let you change materials, sizes and finishes and see production. For an overseas buyer, the ability to specify and inspect usually matters more than the price gap.

What is the difference between a Foshan furniture mall and a factory showroom?

Who you are buying from: in a mall you often buy from a tenant who may or may not make the piece; in a factory showroom you buy from the maker, or from its own sales arm. Lecong’s malls — the Louvre, Shunlian North and South, Red Star Macalline — rent space to brands, distributors and small traders. Factory showrooms are usually stand-alone buildings in Lecong, Longjiang or Chancheng, sometimes with a workshop behind.

Mall showroom Factory showroom
Range in one visit Wide: dozens of sellers Deep: one maker’s full range
Цена Includes the tenant’s margin and rent Closer to ex-factory, but not always lower
Changing materials or sizes Depends on whether the tenant controls production Usually possible: leather, fill, fabric, size
Seeing production Редко Often, if you ask
Complaints Mall management as a second point of contact Only the company itself
Booking Walk in Often by appointment

Is a factory showroom cheaper than a Foshan furniture mall?

Often, but not reliably — and the mall layer you compare with matters more than the label. A guide from May 2025 puts Shunlian North at least a third below the Louvre, while a Fujian buyer found Shunlian North’s big showrooms close to the Louvre’s lower floors. A Beijing family who visited factory stores found prices much like their local mall back home and concluded that nothing in the internet era stays cheap for long.

The saving from going direct is real only when the specification is the same. A factory quoting less than a mall for ‘the same sofa’ may be quoting a different frame, fill or leather. The путеводителе по мебельному рынку Foshan explains how the layers relate, and our analysis of Lecong versus Longjiang shows where the factories actually are.

For an overseas buyer, the factory showroom’s advantage is not really price. It is that the people who can change the product — the frame, the leather, the fill — are in the building, and so is the evidence of how it is made. The mall’s advantage is a landlord who cares about complaints, and that advantage disappears the moment your container leaves Foshan. Buy where you can inspect, not where you can complain.

How can you tell a real factory showroom from one that only calls itself one?

Ask to see production, and ask what the business actually makes. ‘Source factory’ is used freely in Foshan advertising, including by resellers. A buyer who flew in from Beijing in May 2026 made the production line her test: after the showroom she asked to see the workshop, and judged each company by how it was run. One of her two finalists placed its own production pieces next to the originals so buyers could compare details.

  • Is there a workshop on site, or where is it?
  • Which parts are made in-house (frames, upholstery, leather cutting) and which are bought in?
  • Whose company name will be on the order and invoice?
  • Can you see a piece currently in production, not just the showroom sample?

Что добавляют комментарии?

Comments under the factory-list post include warnings, promotions and one question that nobody answered.

  • A warning against a listed showroom. One reader advises avoiding a brand the post recommends; the author simply thanks them — a reminder that lists like these are opinions.
  • ‘Is this a factory store?’ A reader asks exactly that under the list and gets no reply — the question every buyer should put to each showroom.
  • Sellers work the comments. Two comments promote specific businesses, including a gallery of original Italian pieces offered as a way to compare copies with originals before buying.
  • Порог бюджета. Under the Beijing family’s post, a commenter says a furniture budget of at least RMB 100,000 makes the trip worthwhile; below that it matters little.

What changes in specification and after-sales?

Factories let you change more; malls give you more places to complain — but neither helps much once furniture has left China. The May 2025 guide notes that some factory brands run their own leather operations, and makers commonly offer fabric, leather and fill options. The two-day Lecong guide suggests a 50% deposit with the balance on delivery, and lists colour difference and logistics as the points to settle before paying.

For an overseas buyer, ‘balance on delivery’ has to become ‘balance after inspection’, because delivery happens thousands of kilometres away. Mall management is of little practical help with a dispute about a container that has already sailed.

Are replica designs a problem when importing?

They can be. Several Foshan showrooms openly sell replicas of Italian designer ranges, and whether that is lawful to import depends on design and trademark rights in your country. The May 2025 post describes showrooms that specialise in ‘high-copy’ versions of well-known Italian sofa and storage brands, one said to supply the replicas sold in import shops. A Beijing buyer notes that replicas differ in small details from the originals, which she attributes to copyright. Before ordering a close copy for export, ask your customs broker or a lawyer about design rights at home — or specify an original design instead. Как с этим работает Source Foshan

We shortlist and vet factories and showrooms across Lecong, Longjiang, Shunde and Dongguan, and we visit production for custom pieces rather than relying on the showroom. For each item we collect 2–3 quotes — mall tenants and factories alike — against one written specification, so a lower price means the same product. Deposits, as low as 10% on many orders, go to the supplier’s company account; production is tracked with weekly photos and video; and the balance is released only after you approve the inspection report. We take no commissions or rebates from any supplier.

If you want factory-level specification without managing factories yourself, we recommend Arcaya Living: its whole-home service covers design direction, furniture, custom cabinetry, production follow-up, delivery and installation, and its published projects show the results.

Часто задаваемые вопросы

Is it cheaper to buy from a factory in Foshan?

Often, because there is no tenant margin, but buyers report cases where factory stores cost about the same as malls. Compare only against the same written specification.

Do Foshan factory showrooms need an appointment?

Many do, especially independent showrooms in Longjiang and Chancheng; some will not open the door without one. A message the day before is usually enough.

Can I change the fabric or size at a Foshan factory?

Usually yes — leather or fabric, fill, colour and size are common options. Put every change in writing with codes and dimensions, and confirm it on a pre-production photo.

Is buying in a Foshan mall safer than buying from a factory?

Within China, malls give you management to complain to. For export orders that protection matters less than inspection before the balance, because disputes after shipping are hard to resolve from abroad.

Can I import replica designer furniture from Foshan?

It depends on design and trademark law in your country, and some copies can be stopped at the border. Ask a customs broker or lawyer before ordering a close copy.
