Choosing a hotel furniture manufacturer in China: capacity, mock-ups and references
How to choose hotel furniture manufacturers in China: test capacity claims like '3,000 workers', insist on a mock-up room and check references you can call.
- Hotel furniture factories on Xiaohongshu market themselves with size claims — one Sichuan-based seller cites 230,000 m² of production base and 3,000+ workers; a Chengdu maker cites 20,000 m² and 2,200+ cases. None of it is verifiable from the post.
- The Chengdu maker splits its range into fixed, loose and upholstered furniture, plus doors and wood panelling — the categories to check separately.
- The Sichuan seller claims prices at least 50% below overseas brands; a claim to test against like-for-like quotes, not to take on trust.
- In the comments under both posts, every price and contact question was moved to private messages; no post gave a price.
- A mock-up room approved before bulk production is the single most useful condition to put in the contract.
Choose a hotel furniture manufacturer in China by category, not by headline size: shortlist makers whose own production line builds what you need most (fixed joinery, casegoods or upholstery), test them with a sample built to your drawing, and make an approved mock-up room a condition of bulk production. Treat floor-area and head-count claims in promotional posts as a starting point for questions, and ask for references on projects of similar size that you can contact directly.
What makes a hotel furniture manufacturer different from a residential factory?
A hotel furniture manufacturer can turn a designer’s drawings into shop drawings, build repeatable batches to one standard and pack by room — a residential showroom factory usually cannot. The difference shows in how the makers describe themselves. A Chengdu hotel-furniture maker’s post lists an in-house detailing team, a production base and its own installation crew, and splits its range into fixed furniture, loose furniture and upholstery, plus doors and timber wall panelling. That is the vocabulary of a contract supplier.
For a buyer, the practical test is simpler: ask which of those categories the factory actually makes under its own roof, and which it buys in. A split package with two or three specialist makers is often better than one factory stretching. Our hotel furniture sourcing page explains how we divide a guestroom package, and the hotel furniture from China guide covers the full project path from specification to installation.

How do you check a Chinese hotel furniture factory’s capacity claims?
Ask for evidence that matches your order — the line, the machines and the people who will build your pieces — rather than the total size of the group. Promotional posts in this category are built around big numbers. A Sichuan-based seller advertising overseas hotel projects claims 34 years of mid-to-high-end production, a 230,000 m² base, more than 3,000 skilled workers and a 95% match between design renders and finished rooms. A Chengdu maker claims a 20,000 m² plant, over ten years in business and 2,200+ projects at home and abroad.
Those figures may be accurate for a group of companies and still irrelevant to your order. Check:
- The legal entity on the business licence, and that it matches the name on the contract and the bank account.
- The line for your category: a video walk-through of veneer pressing, edge banding and finishing for casegoods, or frame-building and foam cutting for upholstery.
- Export experience: packing photos from a recent export order, and who handled documents.

Size claims are the wrong filter for a hotel order. A factory with 3,000 workers can still put your job on its least experienced line, and a 200-person specialist can build a better guestroom than a giant. Choose the factory that will show you the exact line your furniture will be built on, and let the mock-up room — not the brochure — decide who gets the bulk order.
Why insist on a mock-up room before bulk production?
Because it is the only point where every drawing, finish and fitting is tested together while changes are still cheap. A mock-up — a full guestroom set, or at minimum one of each key item — shows whether the headboard fixings meet the wall, whether drawer runners feel right, whether the veneer matches the approved sample under hotel lighting, and whether upholstery is as comfortable as the render suggests.
Write it into the contract: who pays for the mock-up, where it is built (in the factory or shipped to site), who approves it, and that bulk production starts only after written approval. Keep the approved pieces, or measured photos of them, as the inspection reference. The same logic applies at smaller scale to restaurant furniture, where one approved chair sets the standard for two hundred.

What does the comment section add?
The comment sections under hotel-factory posts are mostly enquiries — and the way they are handled is itself informative.
- Prices never appear in public. Under the Chengdu maker’s post, all ten top comments ask for contact details, an address or a price; each answer is a request to message privately.
- Scripted funnels. The Sichuan seller pins a comment asking readers to reply with codes for interior design, whole-home furniture, single items or custom cabinets, then sends material privately.
- Scope questions go unanswered publicly. A reader asked whether the company handles both fit-out and furniture; the answer was again a private message. Ask for scope in writing.
What references should you ask a China hotel furniture supplier for?
Ask for two or three projects of similar size and category, with a contact you can speak to — not a gallery of famous lobbies. Several hotel-furniture posts in our research name well-known international hotels as the maker’s projects. Some will be true, some will mean a single item, and some will be borrowed images; a post cannot tell you which.
Useful references are specific: the number of rooms, the categories supplied, the year, and what went wrong and how it was fixed. If a supplier cannot give a reference you can verify, make inspection before the balance payment non-negotiable.

Where are hotel furniture manufacturers in China, and how should you compare them?
Hotel furniture is made across China — posts in our research come from Chengdu, Chongqing, Foshan, Dongguan and Zhongshan — so compare on one specification rather than by region. Guangdong’s furniture towns put upholstery, casegoods, stone and lighting suppliers within a short drive, which eases consolidation; our comparison of Dongguan and Foshan factories explains their different strengths.
Whatever the region, send each shortlisted factory the same package: drawings, a finish and fabric schedule, quantities per room type, packing and labelling rules, and the required test reports. Compare line by line, including packing and inland transport. Specialist items, such as the booths and banquettes in a hotel restaurant, are often better quoted by a separate upholstery maker. Our contract furniture sourcing page shows how we lay out that comparison.

How Source Foshan handles it
We shortlist hotel-furniture makers by category from more than 300 vetted suppliers in Foshan, Shunde and Dongguan, check the licence and production line for each, and put 2–3 quotes per line side by side against your written specification. We follow the mock-up and production with weekly photos and video, and inspect every item before loading. Deposits go to each supplier’s company account; balances are released only after you approve the report. Our fee is 3–5% of order value, agreed in writing before any factory is contacted, and we take no commissions or rebates from suppliers — so the factory we recommend is the one that fits your specification.
If some of your rooms or public areas can use proven catalogue pieces instead of custom ones, we recommend Arcaya Living: its five-stage quality process runs from material confirmation to export packing, and its published projects show how finished cabinetry and furniture look once installed.

FAQ
How do I find hotel furniture manufacturers in China?
Start with makers that specialise in your largest category, from trade fairs, referrals or a sourcing agent’s vetted list, then check each one’s licence and production line. Social-media posts are useful for finding names, but treat their claims as marketing until checked.
What should I ask a China hotel furniture supplier before ordering?
Ask which items they make in-house, who prepares shop drawings, what test reports they can supply for fabrics and foams, how they pack for export, and for two or three references you can contact. Ask for all answers in writing.
Do Chinese hotel furniture factories build mock-up rooms?
Many do, either in the factory or by shipping sample pieces to site. Agree in the contract who pays for it, who approves it and that bulk production starts only after written approval.
Is one factory for the whole hotel better than several?
Not necessarily. One factory simplifies communication but may subcontract categories it does not make. Splitting fixed joinery, casegoods and upholstery between specialists often gives better quality, as long as goods are consolidated and inspected together before shipping.
